Phillip Stearns

Phillip Stearns is a Los Angeles based sound artist and composer currently studying music composition with Michael Pisaro, Mark Trayle and Sarah Roberts at the California Institute of the Arts. His most recent work is centered around the notion of the circuit as a site for composition, perfomance, installation, sculpture and interaction. His compositional work utilizes DIY electronics, systems of digital and analog feedback, hacked and circuit bent electronics, custom designed software, corrupted commercial programs and processes inspired by the functions of modern computing systems. His installation and sound based works as a solo artist and with collaborators address electronic technologies and their role in shaping our notions of community, space, isolation and interconnectedness.
